A New Storytelling Series Honoring Women Who Lead with Heart and Purpose
Some stories begin with fireworks. Others begin with a whisper.
In my 40+ years of writing for purpose-driven individuals and organizations, one truth stands out: the most transformative work often begins quietly—with a moment of conviction, a sense of calling, or a deep-seated spark that refuses to be ignored.
That’s why I created The Work Worth Doing: Women Who Say Yes to the Spark—a storytelling series that celebrates the women who didn’t wait for the perfect plan or permission slip. They felt the nudge, saw the need, or caught the vision—and stepped forward anyway.
These stories aren’t just about professional titles or polished bios. They’re about grit, grace, and the often-unseen labor of love behind the leadership. They’re about women who:
- Build nonprofits from scratch.
- Teach the next generation.
- Launch art into the world.
- Raise families while rebuilding communities.
- Say yes to their callings, one faithful step at a time.
Every month, I’ll spotlight one of these women—a founder, educator, performer, builder, or bridge-maker—who reminds us that influence isn’t always loud… but it is always powerful.

Why This Series Matters
We live in a world that often measures success by the spotlight. But I believe some of the most vital work happens in the shadows—where women are raising their hands, opening their doors, writing the grant, leading the meeting, and staying faithful when no one’s watching.
The Work Worth Doing is my love letter to those women. And I hope it becomes a source of encouragement, recognition, and reflection for you, too.
If you know a woman who’s quietly changing the world—through nonprofit work, education, business, the arts, or community service—I’d love to hear her story. This series isn’t about celebrity. It’s about legacy.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing a woman can do is say yes… to the spark.
ABOUT THE WRITER

I’m Angie Thompson—a fundraising strategist, brand storyteller, and published writer who believes in the power of words to move people and spark meaningful change. Whether I’m capturing a legacy story, shaping a case for support, or helping nonprofits and changemakers find their authentic voice, my goal is always the same: to help good people do great work—and get noticed for it.
With more than two decades of experience in nonprofit development and storytelling, I’ve had the privilege of writing for national platforms and regional publications. My work has appeared in The Office Professional Magazine and numerous community outlets, where I’ve written on everything from donor strategy to the extraordinary impact of everyday people.
I believe the best stories don’t just inform—they connect. They invite us to see purpose more clearly, to feel each other’s humanity more deeply, and to step more boldly into the work worth doing.
